Navaratri “ ! Navratri is a multi-day Hindu festival celebrated in the autumn every year. Theoretically, there are four seasonal Navratri. However, in practice, it is the post-monsoon autumn festival called Sharad Navratri that is the most observed in the honor of the divine feminine Devi : AMBA , Devi DURGA ! The festival is celebrated in the bright half of the Hindu calendar month Ashvin, which typically falls in the Gregorian months of September and October.

In the eastern and northeastern states of India, the Durga Puja is synonymous with Navratri. In the northern and western states, the festival is synonymous with “Rama Lila” and Dussehra that celebrates the battle and victory of god Rama. In southern states, the victory of different goddesses, of Rama or Saraswati is celebrated. In all cases, the common theme is the battle and victory of Good over Evil based on a legend such as the Ramayana. The nine days Celebrations are also a major crop season cultural event of Garba in The Indian State of Gujarat ! On the final day, called the Vijayadashami or Dussehra, which is a symbol of triumph of righteousness over evil.

Garba in Gujarati, is a form of dance which was originated in the state of Gujarat in India. The name is derived from the Sanskrit term, means circle with light! Many traditional garbas are performed around a centrally lit lamp or a picture or statue of the Goddess Shakti. Traditionally, it is performed during the nine-day Hindu festival Navratri: Nine Days! The image of the Goddess, DURGA and AMBA and lights are placed in the middle of concentric rings as an object of veneration. Devotees dance for all nine nights. Navratri is recorded as longest Dance festival on earth!

Navaratri is celebrated in different ways throughout India. Some fast, others feast. Some revere the same Mother Goddess but different aspects of her, while others revere avatars of Vishnu, particularly of Rama. The Chaitra Navaratri culminates in Rama Navami on the ninth day and the Sharada Navaratri culminates in Durga Puja and Dussehra.

Navratri festival is celebrated Universally. Most significant of Garba is originated in Gujarat State of India and celebrated in countries like India, many Asian countries, Australia, America, Africa, Europe and South America as well! In Adelaide of South Australia since last 10 years Celebrations are very significantly growing in traditional way. Celebrities from India visits every year over here for Garba! This year Great Garba singer and Bollywood singer Parthiv Gohil, other Great singers like, Atul Purohit, Devang Patel Umesh Barot are visiting Adelaide around August and September of 2017! Gujarati: Indians and Australians are joining Garba more and more every year increasingly. Many Garba performers are very passionate about festival and wins competition every year. This is how Garba festival strengthens the bonds between India and Australia here and in other Diaspora as well!
