The Honourable Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Mr. Vayalar Ravi, began a two day visit to Melbourne with a
meeting with Premier John Brumby. The discussion covered a range of issues affecting the Indian community in Victoria, and especially the Indian students here. Minister Ravi acknowledged the usefulness of the dialogue between India and Australia on these issues as also the positive impact of the various initiatives taken by the Victorian government to enhance the safety and security of Indian students.

All too often one of the issues raised with me is the prevalence of graffiti on people’s homes, shops and public property.

Graffiti costs the NSW community approximately $100 million a year. It imposes a real cost on businesses, individuals and local councils.

It also makes families feel less safe and makes our communities less attractive places to live and visit.

Did you know it is illegal for anyone to give immigration assistance without being a registered migration agent?
The reason it is illegal is to protect unsuspecting people from being given incorrect advice or losing their money to unscrupulous operators posing as migration advice professionals.

In Australia, migration agents must be registered with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA). Unregistered people who give immigration assistance (even without charging a fee) are breaking the law and penalties of up to 10 years’ jail can apply.
