Pinnawela (Sri Lanka), April 25 (IANS) Don't call it crap. Dung is actually being turned into profit at the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, thanks to a good idea.
At the entrance to the orphanage stands a shop, Pinnawala Elephant Dung Paper, where elephant excrement is used to make products like notebooks, photo frames, gift items, book marks, photo albums and greeting cards.

The Canadian government is expanding opportunities for immigrants, a study concludes. The annual contribution is estimated about $2 billion contributing to Canadian economy. Canadian government has now opened the doors for potential skilled professionals and trade workers to work and stay and Canada permanently. Through Student Participation Program (SPP), individuals have a better understanding for studying in Canada with 18 universities offering courses to Indian students, with the support of Canadian embassy collaborating with Indian government. Canadian government welcomes candidates who have potential experience after or before completing their degree or diploma through HRSDC approval. Human Resource and Skills Development Centre (HRSDC) is the body working with Canada immigration department who approves the application for skilled candidates, giving them 15 points to qualify for residency and basically decides the quota for immigrants every year.

The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) is drafting a new emigration legislation to safeguard the interests of Indians settled abroad, union Minister of State for Planning and Parliamentary Affairs V.Narayanasamy Thursday said.

Promising to pursue a pro-active policy to transform the emigration system and empower emigrants through systematic interventions of the MOIA, he said the government is doing its best to protect the Indian emigrants from unscrupulous elements.

One of the prominent and young vocalist of India , Mr Ghulam Abbas Khan belongs to the RAMPUR-SAHASWAN Gharana which owes its allegiance to MIYAN TANSEN's tradition. He was initiated into music at a tender age by his grand father, late Ustad Ghulam Jafar Khan, a well known Sarangi player of India . Later he continued his training under the worthy guidance of his father Padmashri Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan, a classical vocalist of International repute Ghulam Abbas happens to be the grandson of the great classical vocalist of India late Ustad Mushtaq Husain Khan who was the first recipient of Padmabhushan Award.
